A Note from the Course Designer

The "Flipped Classroom"

This course follows a "flipped classroom" model.

Each week, you'll receive a content module that you will work through on your own time. You'll get articles to read, videos to watch, and short exercises to complete. Each module is designed to take 60-90 minutes to complete.

During our live sessions, we'll work together to apply the module content to a case study. Our goal is to put what we learned into practice right away.

Your instructor is available during the live sessions to answer questions, give feedback, and to facilitate class discussion. We are also available in between sessions via Slack.

Let's recap, each week you'll:

  • Get a content module to review on your own.
  • Apply what you learned to an interactive case-study in an instructor-led live session.
  • Get support from our engaged course community.

Our Students Love Us

"It has been an amazing hands-on experience. The way the course is structured is really good because you have the theory and then you practice it. You get out of the class feeling like you actually learned it and you can really apply it."
Bianca Starling
Voxy
"I'm on a design team of 4 and we are incorporating many of the exercises from the Hidden Assumptions course into our work. It's probably the most applicable learning I've experienced in my 5 years as a product designer."
Leyla Akincilar
product DESIGNER
I tried one of the exercises from the class with my UX partner at work. We uncovered a ton of assumptions and the exercise helped us realize that we were each focused on a different customer and hadn’t realized it until now. It was a game changer for us.

Frequently asked questions

When does the course meet?

We meet for 90-minute live sessions (via Zoom) each week for five weeks in a row. For specific dates and times for each cohort, select a cohort in the "Choose a Cohort" section.

What is your refund policy?

We try to accommodate refund requests whenever possible. However, due to limited capacity, we cannot issue refunds within 14 days of the start date of the course.

If you are unable to attend the course and you missed the refund deadline, we do allow you to transfer your ticket to another student up until the day before the course starts. We are not able to make any roster changes once the course starts.

What if I can't make all the sessions?

Our live sessions are focused on hands-on practice with your team. Each session will build on the previous session. There will not be an opportunity to make up a missed session. We strongly recommend you reserve time on your calendar for all five sessions.

However, we understand that things do come up. Because we follow a "flipped classroom" model (see description above), if you miss a class session, you won't miss any of the instructional content. Instead, you'll miss out on the hands-on practice associated with each lesson. We recommend that you connect with your team after class to catch up on what you missed.

What's required of me in between sessions?

Each week, you will have 1-2 hours of homework to complete on your own time. It will be difficult to participate in the live session, if you don't do your homework. We strongly recommend that you reserve this time on your calendar now.

The cohort I want is closed for enrollment. Is there a wait list?

Our cohorts sell out quickly. We rarely have cancellations, but when we do, we offer any open spots to students in the subsequent cohort in the order in which they purchased their ticket. So the best way to get on the waiting list is to purchase a ticket for the next available cohort.

How long do I have access to the instructional content?

You'll have access to all of the instructional content for 3-months starting from the course kick-off.
